Writing Assignment #8, Draft 3

Fun With Mick & Lane

See Mick strut. Strut Mick strut.
Mick is strutting along the sidewalk.
Along comes a girl named Lane.
Silly, silly Lane. She is wearing very high heels.
They are so high that she wobbles with every step.
Wobble wobble wobble.
But Lane loves her shoes because they are Prada.
She spent all her money on the shoes.
Mick also likes Lane’s heels very much.
Mick does not know Lane, but he likes her shoes.
He thinks they look very pretty.
Pretty, pretty shoes.
Mick is proud of his shoes too.
He likes the way they squeak when he struts.
Squeak shoes squeak.
Suddenly it starts to rain.
Plip plop, plip plop, plip plop go the raindrops.
The city is very wet now.
So are Mick and Lane’s shoes.
They both do not like this at all.
Their shoes squelch now when they walk.
Squelch squelch squelch.
Both Mick and Lane are very angry.
Their shoes were suede, and suede does not like rain.
Neither do Mick and Lane.
Two pairs of fancy suede shoes are ruined.
Mick’s were blue.
Sky blue, royal blue, Prussian blue.
Blue blue blue blue.
Lane’s were red.
Rose red, fire engine red, blood red.
Red red red red.
Mick is cursing very loudly.
People on the street are staring at him.
Lane is furiously dialing her cell phone.
Dial Lane dial.
Mick stomps down the street with Lane close behind.
They both step in big puddles along the way.
The bottoms of Mick’s pants are dripping too.
Lane’s legs have goose bumps.
Neither has an umbrella.
It is pouring now.
Pour rain pour.
Mick and Lane both go into Starbucks.
It is very crowded and hot and smells like expresso.
Cappuccino!
Mick shakes his head vigorously.
Shake Mick shake.
Drops of water fall into peoples coffee.
Mick gets many dirty looks.
Lane also flips her hair.
Flip flip flip.
She flips her hair so hard that it hits Mick behind her.
Mick glares at the back of Lane’s head in silence.
Glare Mick glare.
Lane turns around and smiles at Mick.
Mick stops glaring, and stares at her shoes.
Lane orders a double shot, venti mocha -vanilla -strawberry decaf with foam.
Yum yum yum.
Mick pays for her drink, and gets a chai soy latte, hold the whipped cream
All for himself.
They sit together and make eyes at each other’s ruined shoes and hair.
How cute cute cute.
Wink Mick wink.
Flirt Lane flirt.
Mick and Lane exchange phone numbers.
Then they strut from Starbucks together.
Both have forgotten about their shoes.
It is still raining.
Rain rain rain.

WOW. Pretty much defies any attempt to comment...I think my favorite part - I have no idea why was - "Mick was cursing very loudly". Perhaps because that is the sort of thing rarely included in I-Can-Read books.
